DENVILLEt, NJ (June 2, 2010) – Denville, N.J. -On a sunny and warm evening in northern New Jersey, the New Jersey Rangers FC defeated the Central Jersey Spartans, 2-1. Central Jersey is in its expansion year and the Rangers are in their third in the USL Premier Development League. The game started off a bit slow between both sides as the teams were feeling each other out. The Spartans opened up the scoring in the 15th minute of play when Antoine Hoppenot took advantage of a Ranger defensive miscue andburied the ball in the back of the net.The Rangers regrouped and gained their composure after the goal. Both sideswent back and forth and the play was pretty even at this stage of thegame with both teams creating a few chances. In the 28th minute, midfielder Alex Silver fought through a few defenders andas he was going down managed to get off a pass that went through to forward DominicReinold. Reinold received the pass, fought off a Spartandefender and managed to get his toe on the ball, putting it into thecorner of the goal to level the game at 1-1. In the 31st minute of play defender Phil Cunha sent a cross into thebox that was headed by midfielder Jason Gorskie. DominicReinold once again showed up in the right place at the right time and headed the ball into the back of the net to put the Rangers up, 2-1.The first half ended at 2-1. During the second half, both teams createdvery few goal scoring chances as both defenses stood their ground and thegame ended the same way in favor of the Rangers. Goalkeeper Ryszard Gorskirecorded his third win of the season and finished the night with seven saves.
